Chesapeake & Ohio #614 - Track Speed

This DVD covers the excursions Chesapeake & Ohio 4-8-4 #614 ran on New Jersey Transit in 1997 and 1998. It has been digitally mastered from my original VHS videotapes.

If you've seen any of my #614 videos on Youtube, you know how spectacular these trips were, and how increasingly rare this type of mainline steam action is now. We see #614 pull 20+ car passenger trains unassisted at speeds up to 79mph on the former Erie RR mainline between Hoboken, NJ and Port Jervis, NY. This DVD features plenty of pacing (with some incredibly close shots of the locomotive) and many, many high speed runbys with unbelievable stack talk.

This DVD consists of all my #614 videos on Youtube in higher quality, plus lots of extra footage and deleted scenes not available online.

Total running time is 91 minutes.

Reading & Northern #425 - Blue Mountain Thunder Vol. 1

This DVD chronicles the second excursion season (in 2009) of Reading & Northern light Pacific #425. We'll follow this blue locomotive as it travels through the mountains of Eastern Pennsylvania and the heart of anthracite coal country.

With plenty of great stack talk, a variety of different whistles, and beautiful scenery, this program has something for every viewer.

In addition to full coverage of the 2009 season, this DVD also includes the October 18th 2008 trip, which features lots of wheel slipping action. The engine crew fought a constant battle to keep the power to the rails as #425 struggled with an especially long train on the climb from Port Clinton to Haucks.

Total running time is 99 minutes.

Winter Steam - Volume 1

Steam in the winter is a spectacular sight, made all the more special by its rarity. The winter is a slow season for tourism, and most operators use the time to perform necessary maintenance on locomotives and rolling stock.

This DVD showcases four winter steam excursions: the annual Tobyhanna Ice Harvest Train at Steamtown NHS in 2009, the 'Polar Express' on the Durango and Silverton, the 1st ever winter steam special on the Rio Grande Scenic RR, and another more in-depth look at the Cascade Canyon Winter Train on the Durango and Silverton.

All these trains operate among beautiful mountain scenery, with varying degrees of snow on the ground. This DVD is sure to please any steam locomotive fan.

Total running time is 56 minutes.
